Our one year old

It is hard to believe that we've had Jackson in our lives for a year already. Some days it seems like we've never been without him, and other times it seems like the first year just passed me by. I love this boy more than I can even explain. I've loved seeing him grow and learn and discover the joys of life.

At 1 year Jackson:
  • Walks/runs
  • Isn't interested in doing sign language, but does understand most signs. The only one he does is "dog". Although recently I've seen him try to do "eat" and "milk" more often.
  • Still takes inconsistent naps. Most days it's one good one, sometimes it is two... mostly it depends on the day.
  • Sleeps with his binky and two favorite blankies.

  • Weighs probably around 22 lbs
  • Babbles, Babbles, Babbles. He says mama and dada sometimes in context.
  • Loves to be outside, loves toy trucks/cars, loves real animals, likes to flip through books.
  • LOVES to make messes and get into things you don't want him to. I.E. the dvd cabinet, the garbage cans, the toilet, the dishwasher, press the computer/t.v./dvd buttons, the bookshelves, the cell phone, etc.

  • Can go up and down stairs and loves to do this!
  • Gets a big smile on his face and says "awwww" when he sees a flight of stairs because he wants you to bounce as you carry him down them.
  • Loves to stand on higher surfaces (like boxes or suitcases or anything he can get on)
  • Loves to move things from low places to high places.
  • Likes to carry bags around like my purse or the diaper bag. The diaper bag is huge and sometimes quite heavy so he grunts and growns and gets so mad that he can't move it.
  • Trys to move his tongue up and down and make noises.
  • Still has NO TEETH
  • Still despises getting dressed and getting his diaper changed. In fact, it's gotten worse.
  • Actually lets me wipe his nose now.
  • Waves "hi" and "bye"
  • Claps. He claps when I say "Yeahhh," or "Good boy!"
  • Loves Baby Signing Time movie. In fact, that is the only thing that we've ever gotten him to just sit and watch.
  • Brings me his snack bowl and wants me to open it. He is learning how to take one at a time and not a whole handful.
  • Doesn't have much patients for reading books anymore.
  • Puts the phone to his ear (or anything that resembles a phone like the camera, remote control, etc). When we said "HIIII Jackson" he'll put his hand up to his ear too.
  • Shakes his head "no" when we say "no"
  • Dances! Bobs his little body up and down when he hears some music (or sometimes when he doesn't)
  • Will sit on my lap and give me quick hugs. He does this mostly when we are with a group of people.. he knows his mommy and loves her too!
  • Moves his forehead to me when I give him kisses or loves.
  • Explores, Explores, Explores and keeps his parents on their toes, but smiling all the while! We love you so much little Jackson Roo!!

Your boy is sooooo adorable!!! I can't believe he is one year old!!!! He's the cutest little thing ever, very cute pictures!!! I love the one with all the dvd's around him on the floor! When I was one, my obsession was going through the kitchen cabinets and pulling out bags of chips, paper plates, anything I could get my hands on. haha.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON!!! Watch out for the trash can - we've lost some good stuff to that darn thing. Davis LOVES throwing things away but doesn't care if its trash or not. I have to say that this age on (until 3) is so much fun! Just enjoy and keep posting cute pictures of Jack-man :o) You guys are awesome parents.

Still no teeth? Wow! Hopefully they won't all come in at the same time! Kate and Jackson are very similar, they both love to get into things that are off limits! Diaper changes for Kate used to be awful but once she realized no matter how much she fought me she was still getting changed, she learned to just lay there because it will be over faster that way. Hopefully he will be getting better. Kate won't do much sign either, but she loves to watch Baby Signing Time too! It is the only thing she will watch! We miss playing together! Do you have any plans to visit Idaho sometime? Make sure you call me if you are here!

Awwww!! He's such a cutie. It's great to read all about what he's up to! Love this post... although it makes me realize how much he's changed in just the few months since we saw him! I can't believe he still hasn't popped any teeth through -- hopefully what they say will be true and he'll have really heathly teeth when they do come in :)
