First year birthdayFrom baby to toddler: 2 year birthday

It's been so long since I have just sat down and did a post updating Jackson's development and personality. I was reading our blog book and I used to do really good at that... and now that I've gotten so far behind, I am going to have a hard time doing this. Oh well, here goes nothing:

Jackson at 2 years:

-LOVES to be outside. He could go outside and just wander around and play for hours and hours. Doesn't matter if he is hot or cold, he wants to be out. And boy does he THROW A GOOD FIT when he has to come inside
- Loves almost all PBS shows, especially; Sesame Street and Elmo's World, Super Why, Clifford, Sid the Science Kid. Also loves lightning and mater (cars). And still loves Baby Signing Time, and Scripture Bugs
- Is a really good eater. Eats most everything we put in front of him and is only picky with few foods. He calls Ketchup or Ranch "dip it" and loves to put it on anything.
- Has a sweet tooth though! (We are working on that one...)
- Loves to name all of his favorite people (Mommy, Daddy, Ma-Ma, Bapa, Jackson, Buddy & Becky (some friends of ours), all his Aunts and Uncles, Easton and Brooklyn (and his other cousins too... but mostly just those two) :), Elmo-Zoe-Grover-Bert-Ernie, Lightning and Mater.
- Has an obsession of looking at pictures. He likes to look at them on the computer and on the cell phone and if he sees either one of these gadgets he throws a fit till he gets to see the pictures.
- Still really likes to play with cars and trucks
-Loves to push anything around that has wheels
-Is a horrible shopping buddy. He wants to push the cart and stroller, but not ride in them.
-Sleeps in a big boy bed (has done great at night, but we are working on the nap time routine) but still needs his blankie and binky.
- Likes to sing songs. Some of his favorites are of course, David Archuleta's "crush", twinkle twinkle little star, Jesus wants me for a sunbeam, If you're happy and you know it, the horsie song, 3 little ducks.... and more I can't think of.
- Still teething. He is missing four on the bottom and I wondered if he even had them... turns out the other day we noticed two of them cutting in.
- Is a wanderer... he is hard to take anywhere because he doesn't want to stay in one place, he wants to explore and really doesn't care if anyone is near him or not.
- Loves the PARK! But again... because he is a wanderer I can't go and just sit and watch him play on the playground... I have to chase him around the whole dang park the whole dang time! :)
- Can count 1-10. Occasionally he still misses one or two numbers (usually the 9)
- Sort of knows his colors. We have flash cards that have colors on them and he knows them really good if you show him those, but he still has a hard time distinguishing the colors on actual objects. If you ask him what color something is he ALWAYS says "blue." And then if you say "No, look at it. What color is it?" He says, "Yellow." :)
- Talks, Talks, Talks!! He is still pretty much the one-two word wonder boy right now. He knows most all words and loves to say anything he possibly can. Some our favorite Jacksonisms are:
How bout that
Yeah, do! I do! I do! (if you ask if he wants something or wants to do something)
Oh boy!
This way (or) That way (he says this when we are driving in the car and when we make turns)
Titchers (pictures)
Raining. rella. (It's raining, we need an umbrella)
Bless you Mommy. Bless you Daddy (or whoever else might sneeze)
cuse me. (excuse me- when he toots or burps)
Sowey for.... (sorry for....hitting, scratching, throwing something, making a mess, etc.)
Miss you Mommy. Miss you Daddy... MaMa, Bapa, etc.
Hey babe!
Don't Daddy. Don't Mommy.
Holly. (Whenever he hears a dog bark. Holly is his Grandma and Grandpas dog.)
Here we are! (whenever get home or to any destination)
mon Daddy. mon Mommy (come on!)
Big-bus. Big-rock. (Big whatever else it might be)
Thank you Mommy! Thank you Daddy!
Daddy-kool. (Daddy's at school)
yightning. Manor. (Lighting and Mator)
Hoad it (Hold it. Meaning hold whatever he wants to hold or you hold me.)
Redy, Set, Go!
Motor Bike. Jeff's Bike. (He has a toy motorcycle that his Grandma told him looks like his Uncle Jeff's bike)
Base Ball. Base Ball Bat. oh-Strike!
Ding Dong!
Sighting!!! (exciting!!!.... and imagine this one with his fists all clenched up and held to his face)
SOOOO many more that I can't think of...

We love our Jack Man so much! It is so fun to watch him learn and grow and we always hope we are being the best parents to him as possible. He definitely has his difficulties and we as parents definitely have our patience tested with him... the joys of toddlerhood. We love him!

Oh and a funny side story: The other day Justin was getting him out of his car seat and for some reason it had gotten really loose and so when he took him out, it toppled over.
Justin: What the?!
Jackson: Heck!
Justin: hahaha
We didn't realize we said that phrase that much, but apparently! :) Oh and don't worry we tightened the car seat back up before we put him back in it.

I seriously just can't even believe how fast he's grown up! it seems like just yesterday when you guys were still living in rexburg and you just had him! :) He is such a smart, cute little boy!

He sounds like a chatter box! By the way that first picture fooled me for a minute, I thought the baby had come early! I wish we were closer, he sounds like such a cutie!

i loved reading this. jackson reminds me so much of luke. i'm kinda glad to hear that he's such an adventurer - just to know that i'm not alone. it's SO exhausting isn't it?? especially being pregnant. but it's also so fun to see them get so excited about things. anyway, such a cute boy!

Oh we sure love that cute little boy!!! I cracked up about him saying, "heck"... that's too cute. Easton has said, "oh shoot" a couple of times.
