Before moving to Memphis we became aware that we were moving to a city of crime. Depending on which list you look at, Memphis has been ranked as high as the second most crime ridden city in America. Although we did our best to avoid moving to a bad area, it soon became apparent that we were not exempt from the statistics. Since moving in to our apartment complex there have now been 50 crimes reported. Compare that to 150 in the complex right next to us and we feel pretty lucky (although it’s an unfair comparison because that complex is probably three times bigger than ours). Here’s some highlights (if you can call them that) of the crimes that have surrounded us for the past 18 months.
Others not listed above were intimidation, obscene phone calls, and custodial interference.
Our contract is up at the end of August and we are definately looking forward to moving out. If a great deal comes up, maybe we can leave even earlier!
