May: Fun with the Fam!

May started with a Family Reunion of sorts with the Johnson family.  Justin's youngest brother, Jordan, returned from his mission and the whole family surprised him by coming up to see him.  We had a lot of fun visiting with him, having a homecoming party, and just hanging out at Justin's parents house.

Welcoming home Elder Jordan Johnson

Grandma taking the kids on a tractor ride.  (Of course Jackson has to drive!!)

Jackson warmed RIGHT up to Jordan even though the last time he saw him he was only 20 months old.  I loved this picture of him holding onto his hand looking up at the new RM.  He held his hand all the way out to the car and told him all about his computer games and anything else he could think of. He was so excited to see him.

Here is a comparison picture of how much he has grown up in those 2 years.

We also had some fun updated pictures taken of the family.

Later that month we had some unexpected fun visitors come!  My brother Bryce and his wife Jamie were moving from California to Virginia.  Since they were going to be driving through Memphis they decided to take a little break in the middle to hang out for a few days with us.  We had a good time visiting with them and showing them some of the sites.  In fact, this was the month that we had some record breaking flooding in the Mississippi River.  We hadn't really ventured downtown to see it all, so while they were here we took a drive to the River Sunday evening and walked around for a while.  It had already gone down a lot, but you could still see quite a bit of flooding that isn't normally there.

Bryce and Jamies favorite thing we took them too was world famous Gus's Fried Chicken.  We have been wanting to try it for a while, but when we mentioned it to them they remembered it from "Man v. Food" so they were stoked for it.  Basically it is a hole in wall, served on paper plates and plastic forks, but it is GOOOD stuff!  Bryce pretty much would have moved to Memphis just for this stuff ;)  If you haven't eaten fried chicken at Gus's,
you've never had fried chicken.
It was fun to have them visit.  OH and I can't forget that they are so awesome that they treated me out one afternoon to a mani and pedicure... much needed when you have 2 kids and never take time for yourself!

We still haven't been to Gus' Fried Chicken. I need to make a list of "Things to do in Memphis before we leave for good." First on the list: Watch Harry Potter with Haylee :) Then, Gus' chicken.
